Adobe Connect → Webex Transition
Senior Instructional Designer · 2018
Supported an enterprise transition from Adobe Connect to Webex by helping learning professionals adapt to a new virtual learning environment.
The Challenge
The organization was moving from Adobe Connect to Webex as its enterprise virtual platform. Learning teams that relied on Adobe Connect for virtual instructor-led training needed to become comfortable using Webex Training Center and understand how its capabilities differed from the platform they already knew.
Vendor resources were available, but facilitators also needed guidance on how to use the platform to deliver virtual learning.
My Approach
Drawing on my virtual facilitation experience, I served as a subject matter resource for the learning organization during the transition.
I brought vendor resources into our internal systems, coordinated train-the-trainer sessions, tracked participation, and made session recordings available for continued reference.
I also created facilitator-specific Webex Training Center resources to address gaps in the vendor documentation and established a Webex User Group where facilitators could share questions, experiences, and practical solutions as they adapted to the new platform.
Outcome
The transition resources and ongoing support helped learning professionals adapt to Webex and gave facilitators a place to continue building their skills after the initial training.
The Webex User Group continued for several months, providing a forum for facilitators to share questions, solutions, and lessons learned. Over time, the facilitator resources were also consolidated into a single user guide for easier reference.
This experience reinforced the value of supporting a technology change beyond the initial rollout—particularly when people need to use the technology to deliver learning themselves.
