From Facilitator to Learning Designer
My approach to instructional design was shaped long before it became my title. Years of facilitating leadership development, coaching facilitators, and supporting the transition from classroom to virtual learning gave me firsthand insight into how people experience learning—not just how it looks on the screen.
More recently, returning to a frontline role has given me a new perspective: experiencing learning as an employee. It has reinforced how much effective onboarding, clear performance support, opportunities to practice, and access to the right information at the right time matter to successful performance.
Those perspectives continue to influence how I design: keep the learning focused, anticipate what people will need, remove unnecessary complexity, and create solutions they can actually use on the job.
